Every journey needs roots.
From PRIDE, the Tradiam film

The acacia sends its roots deep before it spreads, then stands through drought and storm and gives shade to everything beneath it. Wekeza means invest, and this fund is built for that patience: money planted now for the years ahead.

Made for money with a plan.

  • Money you can set aside for one to twelve months, with the return known upfront.
  • A plot, a car or school fees, saved for in fixed steps.
  • Your next step once your Mfalme reserve is in place.

If you might need the money before your lock-in ends, keep it in Mfalme. Leaving Wekeza early pays only the yield earned so far.

Where your money goes

Kenya Shilling government and corporate bonds, with cash and bank deposits held alongside. Your lock-in gives the fund time to hold its bonds rather than sell them early.

The facts.

Fees are shown before you invest, so you never meet a cost for the first time on a statement.

Questions people ask.

How is Wekeza different from Mfalme?

Mfalme is for money you may need at short notice. Wekeza invests in government and corporate bonds for a lock-in you choose, from one to twelve months, and tells you the indicative return for that period before you start.

Is the return guaranteed?

No. The return for each lock-in period is indicative and quoted net of fees. Bond prices move with interest rates, and returns aren't guaranteed.

When can I withdraw?

At the end of your lock-in, paid within two business days. If you leave early, you receive the yield accrued up to that date.

What does it cost?

No entry or exit fee. The management fee is 3.0% a year, and returns are quoted net of it.

Unit trusts are investments, not bank deposits. Their value can fall as well as rise, and past returns do not guarantee future ones. Please read each fund's information memorandum before you invest.
