You read the land before anyone else moves.
From PRIDE, the Tradiam film

In the pride, the lioness sees first. She weighs the moment, and when she moves, the others follow because they trust her judgement. Tau is for the savings you hold for the people who trust yours.

A lioness looks out across the plain

Made for savings that live in dollars.

  • Dollar earners keeping savings in the currency they're paid in.
  • Kenyans abroad building at home.
  • Families planning costs set in dollars, like university abroad.

Best held for two years or more, as bond prices move. If you think in shillings, the exchange rate will move your balance, both ways.

Where your money goes

Mainly Kenya Government Eurobonds and other US dollar fixed income securities, with cash and deposits held alongside.

The facts.

Fees are shown before you invest, so you never meet a cost for the first time on a statement.

Questions people ask.

Can I invest from abroad?

Yes. Apply online with your passport and KRA PIN, and pay in by bank transfer. Our guide for investors abroad has the detail.

Is my money paid back in dollars?

Yes. Withdrawals from Tau are paid in US dollars, within 2 business days after the three-month lock-in.

Can the value fall?

Yes. Bond prices move with interest rates and returns aren't guaranteed. If you measure your wealth in shillings, the exchange rate moves your balance too.

What does it cost?

No entry or exit fee. The management fee is 1.5% a year, charged daily, and returns are quoted net of it.

Unit trusts are investments, not bank deposits. Their value can fall as well as rise, and past returns do not guarantee future ones. Please read each fund's information memorandum before you invest.
